Welcome to Gaming with Kids. This blog is intended to be a place where I write about gaming with my family of 5, but more specifically gaming with my children. I hope to document the trials, frustrations and, hopefully, the triumphs of gaming with children.
Now let me clarify what I mean by “gaming.” These days this word had become synonymous with video games. I’d argue that the video part needs to be added every time when referring to this type of gaming since real gaming, board games and tabletop RPGs, have been around a lot longer than them.
So now that we have that silly business out of the way, I’d like to give you an idea of what you will find here and on what kind of schedule you can expect new content to show up.
I hope to use this site to review new games (or new to me games) for their content, age appropriateness, and overall fun factor. I would also like to post my family’s experiences playing these games since that is what the site aims to show. This new content should be up on a weekly basis for now but will be subject to increase as time allows. I also plan on doing an adults only gaming post once in a while to showcase games that I want to play but may not be age appropriate for my kids.
The overall goal of this site is to try and bring back traditional gaming. With the surge of cheap video gaming devices and the omnipresence of mobile phones I believe that traditional gaming has been kicked to the curb in favor of these more “convenient” types of games. I’d like to change that, or at least be a step in the right direction. (I will be posting about the benefits of traditional gaming on my next post).
So that’s it for now. I hope what I’ve written here intrigues you enough to come back for my next post. Till then, Good Gaming!
